Trip to Bakersfield and a New Camera!

So we decided to go up to Bakersfield this weekend to visit with Grandpa Joe and Grandma Jill; we all had a great time. Aiden did splendidly on the car ride, thanks to Disney's Cars and no traffic. We went to Grandpa Joe's house (he's in Bakersfield temporarily for work) and visited; Aiden got a big wet kiss from Ben (the golden retriever). Aiden also got some early Christmas gifts: a set of cars, a big Tonka fire truck (complete with Uncle Matt action figure), a Noah's Ark Little People set, and a bunch of super cute clothes (Mommy likes those).

Later that night we took my parents to Benji's, a local Basque restaurant that is so yummy!!!!! It was packed but we got a seat and enjoyed every one of the many courses served; it's like French home cooking/comfort food, can I get an mmmmmmmm!!!!! Anyways, we had a nice weekend trip and got to show my parents where David grew up. We really enjoyed seeing Grandpa Joe and Grandma Jill.

Oh, and I almost forgot; just before our trip we got a new camera, woo hoo! Our Canon point and shoot digital is slowing down (Aiden isn't even in the same galaxy by the time the darn thing is ready to take a picture, ugh). So we decided to go with a Nikon Coolpix P80, it's the perfect type of camera for us: a lot more zoom and megapixels than our last one but not quite so advanced as a digital SLR, which I probably wouldn't be able to figure out :) So the first picture below is the very first shot we took with the new camera.

David's Birthday

Well, David's Birthday was actually on November 22nd but I didn't have the blog up yet so I'm going back in time. David is 33, wow! He's really getting up there in years :) We went out to Rubino's Pizza in Mission Viejo with Grandma and Grandpa (Aiden's Grandma and Grandpa, not David's), Matt, Mallory, Sam, Nicole, and Adrian. Then we went to my parent's house for cake and ice cream, chocolate cake of course! As you can see below, Aiden helped Daddy blow out all 33 candles. Oh, and Aunt Teri and Uncle Roger stopped by for some cake and wine as well.

That was on Friday the 21st, on the 22nd Grandma and Grandpa babysat Aiden ALL day so that David and I could go out for his birthday. We went to Portillo's for lunch (mmmmm....Portillo's)and had 2 hot dogs each and cheese fries and onion rings; needless to say, we were pretty full until dinner. After lunch we went to Disneyland and renewed our Annual Passes; we did some shopping in the park and even waited 45 minutes to go on the Finding Nemo Submarines (worth the wait once). Then for dinner we went to Catal, a mediteranean style restaurant at Downtown Disney; the food was delicious, very gourmet :) I think David had a pretty nice birthday weekend, Happy Birthday again honey!
